What a treat!

New Jersey!

This past weekend we traveled to New Jersey to attend a show and on our way back we made a few casts using a spinning rod and a 4 inch swimming shad, and we were stoked to land the first striped bass of 2023.

These stripers are in very cold water and they seem to strike when your lure is placed close to their face, so let your swimming shad or jig get close to the bottom and use a slower retrieve.

This could be a sign of good things to come for us folks here on Long Island, NY.

Fingers crossed for an early start of the NY season.
