Castoberfest is a great fly fishing event organized by Montauk's Captain Tim O'Rourke (Tim). It is a fun filled afternoon where fly fishing anglers get to test Sage fly rods and cast them on the lawn of the beautiful Montauk Lake Club, an elegant private club that hosts this event.

Castoberfest takes place the Sunday before Columbus day. It is attended by members of the fly fishing community who look forward to seeing products displayed by the event sponsors such as Sage, Rio, River Bay Outfitters, Ramsey Outdoors, Van Staal and Montauk Brewing Co. among others. The event is also attended by Montauk fly fishing guides, who answer questions and share stories with the attendees which enhances the fly fishing camaraderie.

During the event tasty food is cooked on an Argentine Parrilla Grill (made by North Fork Iron Works) and beer is provided by the Montauk Brewing Company. This past fall, we were all treated to Capt. Brendan McCarty tasty kabobs!

Early October is primetime fishing in Montauk for fly fishing anglers targeting striped bass, false albacore and bluefish. If you plan on booking a guide to experience this amazing fishery, and the Fall blitzes of Montauk, do it so your schedule allows you to visit this event. You'll be glad you did.
